Sweet AWD E30 for like $3k. High miles, but looks pretty clean. And its like 3 mins from my house. UGH, I want to sell my Taurus SO bad for something like this, a truck, or a P71.

Ew, automatic. Just get a P71.

Yeah jkm7680 is right. No dice because of the auto. Hold out, cheap e30's pop up more often than the internet would have you think.

I was this close (*holds fingers very close together*) to buying a very similar (black) one a couple years ago, but I got curious and looked in to parts - while most e30 parts aren’t too bad, most of the driveline and suspension parts are iX-specific, and thus cost way more than you’d expect. It was enough to put me off it, at least for my need-to-get-there daily driver. At some point down the road I’d definitely consider one as a second car, though.
What I did get is my current p71 and it’s pretty fun too, especially for basically being a beater.

Eh, unlike most on here, I don’t mind automatics. I’d be cool with it.

I know they’re common as hell, but this is the first clean 325ix I’ve found in a while. And I honestly don’t mind the auto (unless its just not a good auto, really not too familiar with the trans in E30s).

Ah, gotcha. Never really looked into IX parts, only common E30 parts. Nice call. I’d LOVE a P71 (or like I said a truck). I gotta sell my Taurus first though.

P71 ownership is pretty sweet. The only thing I don't like about mine is the exhaust...somebody put an X-pipe and Flowmasters on it, took off the cats. It's louder than my Mustang, and the loudness follows me inside the car. If my exhaust was just a bit quieter it would be perfect.

Yeah, gotcha. I would probably just keep the stock system if I got one, even though the 4.6 sings.

It does sound great. What I’ve been meaning to do is just murder the interior with sound deadener, then I can have both the sound and interior comfort. My car also has a leather interior out of an LX, which I love.

Lol, if you can make it look clean, that would be killer. And that’s bitchin, though I don’t think I’d personally want unheated leather for Michigan winter.
These are the two P71s I’m keeping an eye on. The ‘11 is a little out of budget, but looks real nice. I really like the ‘07 too for its price, though it does look slightly dolled up, which may or may not be hiding flaws. And it kinda looks like the front bumper is a bit jacked.

He’s right. I’ve owned 3 e30s and an e28. No awd though. The iX parts are definitely more expensive. The auto box isn’t generally well regarded BUT you could always swap in a manual and pedal box :)
I know more about e30s than I probably should. If you ever have a question I would be happy to help.

Gotcha, I appreciate it. I’ve never really been a genius on E30s, so its good to know that someone on Oppo is. I wasn’t really looking for one, but this one made me start looking for them again. Issue is, if I buy one, it has to be a quality one, since I already have one 80's car that I put enough money into. If I do ever find one, though, I’ll be sure to find you on here.

They both look pretty good, bumper on the 07 is weird yeah, a little warped. An important thing to remember to look at on these is the hour meter...an 07 and an 11 should have one. I want to say it was 05 when they added it, but it may have been earlier. Basically, an hour of idling is 33 miles driven, so if you’ve got 110k miles and 1000 idle hours, you’ve got an equivalent 143k miles.
My ‘08 has 130k and 3000 idle hours, so I’m around 220k miles. The car is tight as a drum and runs great though, so I don’t even worry about that.
K-9 unit, yo.

Yeah, I think ‘05 and up had them. I’m primarily looking in that range because I like the instrument cluster a lot more. I thought that ‘07s bumper looked weird, guess I was right. I could honestly care less though, just another bargaining point if the rest of the car is clean :D

The 05+ cluster is definitely better, because you get the tach.
In 05 they went to drive by wire, so a lot of guys say the 03-04 cars are the best ones. But by ‘07 they had the drive by wire figured out, and they work really nicely.
Also, these cars are...plentiful in junk yards. If that bumper is messed up, $50 and 15 minutes at Pick n Pull will get you a new one. White is a super common color too, so that’s good.

That’s my primary thing. I know you don’t NEED a tach, but after driving plenty of older Fords without them, its nice to have one.
And yeah, that’s probably my favorite part of a P71. Parts are cheap and plentiful. I’m a fan of white on a P71. I would also love a blue or navy blue one like yours. Don’t think I could deal with a black one though.

Luckily most everything on them is fairly simple and you can find DIY’s for almost everything.
The 2 links below were huge when I owned mine and have a lot of info. E30tech has a lot of turbo info and info on M30 swaps. I would say R3v has more on the m50/s50 and 52 swaps.

If you're driving a black P71, it seems to me like you're trying too hard to look badass. There's a guy near me who has a black one with steelies, a push bar, and lights (orange and white, but still) and it looks cool for about half a second until you realize how much of a poser you'd be by driving it. A kinda naked P71 is enough, adding all that junk to it (especially the push bar) is ridiculous.
